ISO 9000:2000 Lead Auditor

Introduction

This course meets the International Register of Certificated Auditors Criteria, IRCA/2245. This course equips delegates with knowledge and skills required to perform first, second and third party audit of management systems against ISO 9001:2000, in accordance with ISO 19011. Students who successfully complete this ISO 9000:2000 Series auditor/lead auditor course certified by IRCA will satisfy the training requirements for initial certification as an IRCA QMS 2000 auditor.

Objectives

    This course is aimed at professionals with experience in quality management systems. It will ensure that they not only have the necessary skills and qualifications for the post of an assessor but can also enhance their experience and confidence for that role.

Training Methodology

There is a balance between knowledge-based presentations, discussions, exercises and case studies. About two-thirds of the time is spent on activity-based learning. Certificates will only be issued to participants with 100% full attendance.

  • Quality personnel involved with audit and assessment as an essential part of their work or wish to achieve an internationally recognized assessor qualification.
  • Personnel involved in helping companies to obtain ISO 9000 certification and wish to gain an in-depth knowledge of ISO 9000 and assessment techniques

Prerequisite

Participants should have completed basic training in ISO 9000:2000 Quality Management System or relevant work experience. They are subject to selection by CPTTM.

Course Outline

This course incorporates presentations, workshops; role play and evening study, and takes a managerial perspective of the post of the assessor. It culminates in practical (in-class performance and assignments) and written examinations:

  • Introduction to quality assurance
  • Interpretation of ISO 9000:2000 requirements
  • Requirements for ISO 9000:2000 documentation
  • Types of audits: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd party audits
  • Plan, preparation and implementation of the above audits
  • Techniques and skills required for a Lead Auditor
  • Report of auditing and follow-up
  • Selection criteria, responsibilities and registration process of auditor
