Introduction
Health and safety regulations are increasingly emphasizing the importance of management commitment and employee involvement in managing risks. This course describes practices that laboratories should implement to ensure effective health and safety management. These tools are based on the actions recommended in international standard guidelines on workplace safety and health program management. These tools are based on the actions recommended in international standard guidelines on workplace safety and health program management. The course focuses on the creation and implementation of a health and safety program in the laboratory. The aim of this course is to enrich and update the knowledge and skills of the participants for understanding the tools and procedures of safety methods in the laboratory.
Objectives
- To familiarize participants with the laboratory safety tools.
- To recognize and evaluate all potential hazards in a laboratory.
- To provide skills, knowledge, and understanding of principles and practices of the application of safety methods in the laboratory.
- To prevent and control the chemical hazards in the laboratory.
- To know how to protect themselves and others.
- To know how to arrange safety hazardous waste disposal.
- To learn standard fire emergency procedures in the laboratory
Training Methodology
This is an interactive course. There will be open question and answer sessions, regular group exercises and activities, videos, case studies, and presentations on best practice. Participants will have the opportunity to share with the facilitator and other participants on what works well and not so well for them, as well as work on issues from their own organizations. The online course is conducted online using MS-Teams/ClickMeeting.
